FAPQ

She was The Pita Group’s very first employee, joining the team in 1997. Now, close to two decades later, Lisa Santoro leads Pita’s design team weighing in on all creative projects including websites; advertising; brand identity systems; presentations; and collateral materials. She still enjoys connecting with clients directly by lending her expert design skills to many projects.

Recently, Lisa sat down with us to share some personal insights to our infamous FAPQ:

Which phrase do you overuse the most?
It’s a silly, made-up one. “Ride like the wind, Dolores” is a modification of a line from the movie, “Toy Story”. It’s used when a driver has the opportunity to pull out into traffic, but hesitates.

What’s a weird talent that you have?
I would say my comedic timing when people are about to eat or drink something.

What’s the best lie you’ve ever told?
I’m only putting this down because I am pretty sure my mom will never see this. If she does, I apologize in advance. (Sorry, Mom!) “Thank you so much, I love the hand painted, autumn leaf wine glasses.”

What movie will you always watch if it’s on?
For a long, long time it was Harry Potter, any of them. Right now, it’s, “The Hunger Games”. Gotta love ABC Family!

Tell us 3 things that people wouldn’t know about you?

  • I have an adventurous side. I have jumped out of an airplane. I didn’t tell anyone I was going to do that in case I chickened out. I didn’t, and have the certificate and t-shirt to prove it.
  • I am addicted to watching the Tour de France. I have my favorite riders, love watching the sprints, cringe at the crashes and am amazed by how fast they go. The backdrop is beautiful, most of the time.
  • I am a bird geek. I get all excited when I spot a bird I have not seen before. I usually keep a pair of binoculars in my car. I have bird feeders outside my office window and can identify all the regulars. We recently drove 10 hours to see puffins off the coast of Maine, and it was totally worth it. The next best sighting to the puffin was a snowy owl in Newport.

What situation do you avoid at all costs?
Public speaking. I shall say no more.

Who would play you in a movie?
Julia Roberts

If you’re stranded on an island, what food could you not live without?
I would have to say cheese. I love cheese, all kinds of cheese!

If money didn’t matter, what would you do?
I would travel the world, flying first-class. I would go on an African Safari, stay in a luxury tree house and bring friends and family. Then, I would design a hardcover book documenting the trip and give them out as Christmas presents to those who traveled with me. I would eat in Michelin Star restaurants and appreciate every bite. I would do pro-bono design for non-profits whose cause I strongly believed in.

What makes you happy?
Having breakfast in bed and watching, “CBS Sunday Morning,” while going through the Real Estate section of The New York Times.
